YOUR HIPS ARE BUILT TO KEEP YOU MOVING

They support you as you walk, climb stairs, exercise, garden, carry the groceries or simply get up from your favourite chair. When they're not moving comfortably, even the simplest parts of everyday life can become frustrating. Hip pain can come on suddenly after an injury or gradually over time. Sometimes it's felt deep in the joint, sometimes through the side of the hip or into the buttock, and occasionally pain felt around the hip is actually coming from somewhere else. That's why taking the time to understand your story is so important.

At Adelaide Chiropractic Centre, Dr Tamara doesn't just look at where it hurts. She looks at how your body is moving as a whole, how your lifestyle may be influencing your symptoms, and what may be contributing to the bigger picture. Our goal is to help you move more comfortably, understand your body better and enjoy more of the things you love.

UNDERSTANDING HIP PAIN

WHY DOES MY HIP HURT?

The hip is one of the body's largest and strongest joints. It's designed to provide both stability and movement, and because it's involved in almost every step you take, it experiences a lot of everyday load.

Hip pain can have many different contributors. It may be related to the hip joint itself, the surrounding muscles and tendons, changes in movement patterns, prolonged sitting, sporting activities, previous injuries or simply the accumulated demands of everyday life.

Sometimes, however, the hip isn't the whole story. Because the lower back, pelvis, hips and legs all work together, discomfort felt in the hip can sometimes be influenced by another area entirely. That's why every new patient begins with a thorough consultation and examination.

Dr Tamara will take the time to understand your symptoms, your health history, your lifestyle and how your body moves before discussing whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for you.

YOUR CARE

HOW CHIROPRACTIC CARE MAY HELP

Healthy movement relies on your joints, muscles and nervous system working together. Your nervous system is your body's communication network. It coordinates movement, balance and muscle control, allowing your body to adapt to the demands of everyday life. When movement becomes restricted or uncomfortable, people often begin moving differently without even realising it. Over time, those changes can place extra demands on other parts of the body.

Depending on your individual needs, chiropractic care may include gentle hands-on treatment, soft tissue techniques, movement advice, rehabilitation exercises and practical strategies to help support comfortable, confident movement. Just as importantly, you'll gain a better understanding of your body and practical tools to help you stay active between appointments. Whether your goal is returning to walking, travelling, keeping up with the grandchildren or simply feeling more comfortable getting through the day, your care is always tailored to what matters most to you.

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

Your hips are your body’s powerhouse.

Every step you take relies on your hips, pelvis, lower back, core muscles and nervous system working together. When one area isn’t moving as well as it could, another area often adapts to help you keep going.

That’s one reason why hip pain isn’t always just about the hip itself. Looking at how your whole body moves can provide valuable clues about what’s contributing to your symptoms.

OUR APPROACH

LOOKING BEYOND WHERE IT HURTS

One of the things patients often tell us they appreciate is that we don't just focus on the painful area. Your body is wonderfully connected. The way your feet move can influence your knees. Your hips affect your lower back. Your upper body helps control your balance. Your nervous system coordinates all of these moving parts, helping you adapt to the demands of daily life.

That's why Dr Tamara takes a whole-body approach. Rather than simply asking, "Where does it hurt?", she'll also look at how your spine, pelvis, posture, movement patterns and everyday habits may be influencing the way your body functions Our aim isn't simply to help settle today's discomfort. It's to support healthy movement, encourage confidence in your body and give you practical strategies that help you enjoy better quality days long after you leave the practice.
